This is the back yard, it was a mess. We trimmed trees and shrubs, cleaned out the gardens. This was a house that also had junk left in the back yard. So a trip to the dump was included.
The yard is shaping up each day we are there. We started the fall clean-up on Thursday, more pictures later.
Click on pictures to enlarge. Can't save this bush, wrap the strap and hook up the winch.
The most efficient way to remove shrubs, bushes and small trees, root and all. plus it's good times to see the power of the winch. This was a 2 day job with 2 disposal trips. Trim shrubs, trim trees and remove 1 tree. Yard needed a good clean-up and shaping.
Using the Warn winch on the front of the truck to pull these large shrubs out.
We first sawed them in half as they were about 9 feet tall. Then hooked up a heavy duty strap to the base and winched them out. We pulled out 3 shrubs in this yard and then planted new shrubs in their place.
This is a yard that is a long term project. We roto-tilled the back yard early this summer and planted the hedge last fall. We built the stone wall with about 10,000 pounds of flagstone. We are filling the outside, the garden section with black dirt compost mix and the inside is going to be filled in with top soil and seeded with grass seed. Weez is going to do some flower planting on the outside of the wall and then we will fill that in with 1 -1-1/2" river rock.
This is one of the front garden sections that we planted last fall, 2008. It needs to be filled in with 2 yards of top soil and then it will be topped with 1 - 1-1/2" river rock.
One of two loads of Flagstone for the wall in the back yard. Everything, flagstone, dirt and river rock has to be wheelbarrowed into the back yard.
The start of the wall.
We also sub-contracted and had 5 trees removed from the back yard.
Heading toward the house.
Circling the new Maple tree we planted 3 weeks ago.
The stone is 2 -4" thick 8" wide and 8 - 20" long. The wall is 2 layers high.
